How much carbon dioxide do plants bind? And how much do they convert through photosynthesis? This colleague at the Institute of Bio- and Geo- sciences (IBG-2) is using a spectrometer to measure the amount of sun- light reflected by green plants and the fluorescent light they emit. This allows researchers to calculate the photosynthetic activity and thus to find out how different plants, in particular crop plants, react to extreme environmental conditions and stress. The ground measurements, which are complemented by flight campaigns, are being conducted in prepara- tion for possible use of the measuring method on satellite missions. :: A LOOK AT THE DETAILS
